A Guide to Stress-Free Packing
Less is More
When you come to Camp Peškera, summer boils down to the two most important things: a swimsuit and a beach towel. Everything else? Pula is just a few minutes' drive away, shopping centers are nearby, and everything is within reach. However, after years of hosting guests, we’ve noticed a few small items that make the difference between a "good" and a "perfect" vacation.
1. Sun Protection
We all love that bronzed tan we take home as the best souvenir, but the Istrian sun can be quite "sharp"—especially when a light mistral wind blows or clouds hide the sun, making you forget how much it’s actually burning.
Physical Protection First: A swimsuit is a must, but keep a wide-brimmed hat and a light, breezy cotton shirt or a shoulder wrap handy. The safest way to avoid the strongest midday sun is to enjoy a long coffee at our Bistro Veronika.
Sunscreen Tip: Here is a vital piece of advice often forgotten—test your sunscreen a few days before leaving. Apply a small amount to your skin and your loved ones' skin to ensure there are no allergic reactions.
2. Footwear for Sea Explorers
While our beaches are beautiful, the Istrian coast is authentic—meaning rocky and pebbly.
Advice: If you plan on exploring hidden coves around the camp or jumping off those famous cliffs at Kamenjak, simple rubber water shoes will be your best friend. Your feet will thank you.
3. Light for Romantic Strolls
Camp Peškera has its own lighting, but the paths leading along the coast hide the most beautiful vistas under the stars.
Advice: A small flashlight (or a fully charged phone) will come in handy if you decide on a late-night walk to the small harbor or wish to explore nearby paths through the pine forest.
4. Health on the Go
Even though our pharmacies are well-stocked and tourist clinics are always accessible, it is safest to bring your regular therapy or specific medications from home.
The Travel Cooler isn't just for drinks: When traveling, make sure to pack medications in a travel cooler or otherwise protect them from direct sun and high temperatures in the car so they remain effective.
5. Nighttime Peace
Long pajamas? Yes! If you are sleeping in a tent, you can feel the chill rising from the ground at night, even in the middle of July. Bring a pair of long pajamas—your body will thank you in the early morning hours.
6. Our Tiny (Un)invited Guests: Mosquitoes
Being in nature means sharing space with its inhabitants and respecting its laws.
Mosquitoes: They are part of our ecosystem, but they can be annoying guests. A good mosquito repellent will ensure peaceful evenings and nights.
Pack light, bring a good mood, and the essentials for your health. For everything else—there’s us, the sea, and the Banjole sun. We are waiting for you!
