When you arrive at Camp Peškera, we want you to think about the sea, the shade, swimming and where you will spend your evening. Safety should be someone else’s concern.

That is why we carry out a whole range of tasks every day, often early in the morning or while our guests are at the beach. You will probably never notice most of these activities, but they are precisely what helps keep your holiday pleasant, peaceful and carefree.

 Prevention Is a Major Part of the Solution

We are proud that, since the camp first opened, we have never faced a situation in which we needed to use our firefighting equipment. We want to keep it that way.

We are aware that during the summer months, high temperatures, prolonged dry periods, wind, dry grass and fallen leaves expose many parts of Europe to an increased risk of fire.

At Camp Peškera, our approach is based on:

1. daily prevention,
2. regular maintenance, and
3. responsible behaviour.

We regularly inspect and service our fire extinguishers, while equipment for tackling a fire in its early stages is located in clearly visible and easily accessible places. Smoke detectors have been installed in all key locations so that any potential danger can be detected as early as possible.

 A Well-Maintained Camp Is a Safer Camp

Mowing the grass, removing dry branches, regularly collecting fallen leaves and providing a dedicated area for glass waste all help reduce the risk of a fire starting and spreading quickly.

That is why our guests see neat, well-maintained green areas that are not only beautiful, but also an important part of keeping the camp safe.

We Carefully Choose the Greenery That Provides Shade

Trees and Mediterranean plants are an important part of Camp Peškera. They provide natural shade, protect our guests’ privacy and create the special atmosphere that makes a seaside stay feel like a true holiday.

Most of the greenery in the camp consists of olive trees, fig trees, oak trees and carefully maintained laurel shrubs. At the same time, we avoid creating dense, uninterrupted areas of resinous conifers immediately next to accommodation units.

Of course, no plant is completely fireproof. That is why our choice of plant species always goes hand in hand with regular pruning, the removal of dry plant material, mowing and maintaining sufficient distance between vegetation and buildings.

In this way, we protect the greenery, the environment and the safety of everyone who stays here.

Experience You May Not See, but That Is Always Present

Our family includes a firefighter with more than 30 years of experience. Thanks to his knowledge, fire safety has become part of the way we look at and care for our surroundings.

We understand the importance of small, everyday actions: removing a dry branch in time, checking access to firefighting equipment, providing a safe area for barbecues and advising guests on how they can contribute to everyone’s safety.

The best protection is prevention that stops a dangerous situation from developing in the first place.

How Can Every Guest Help?

Camp safety is a shared responsibility. A few simple rules help protect people, accommodation and the natural environment around us:

- Use barbecues exclusively in the designated barbecue area.

- If you smoke, always use an ashtray and smoke only where it is permitted. Never throw cigarette butts on the ground, even if they appear to be completely extinguished.

- Cook just as carefully as you would at home. Keep all cooking appliances under supervision and allow them to cool down safely after use.

- Do not use unprotected candles, torches, lanterns or fireworks. There are many other ways to create a romantic atmosphere.

- Dispose of glass bottles and other glass waste in the designated containers, as glass left near dry leaves can increase the risk of fire.

- Do not use damaged electrical appliances, chargers, cables or extension leads. We will be happy to advise you where you can obtain safe replacements.

- If you smell burning or notice smoke, inform reception immediately. Do not assume that someone else has already reported it.

- In the event of an emergency, follow the instructions of our staff. If you notice a fire outside the camp, immediately call the fire brigade on 193 or the emergency centre on 112.

Caring for Safety Also Means Caring for the Environment

You may not notice everything we do—and that is perfectly fine. Our goal is for you to feel peaceful, safe and protected at Camp Peškera, knowing that someone is taking care of every detail that matters for your perfect holiday.
